Be empowered, hold your vision ~ Justice for all

As I observe social media political posts, what’s evident is the narrative and direction needs to shift – if true progressive change is desired. It’s normal to navigate through the challenging times with a range of emotions – but please do not allow all of this to paralyze you into inaction. Some are spun out in fear, and are overwhelmed. Some scan headlines without fact-checking sources, and spin out of the present into fearful future projection into blame, what if’s, full-on despair, and panic. Others have joined together in solidarity, combining forces for causes and issues, promoting diversity, standing up for humanity, writing letters, and making phone calls. So many empowered beings are rising up who will not be silenced, or censored. These actions are inspiring, more powerful, and energizing. This will lead to a true uprising of the people, and a massive shift of what we will tolerate, allow, and accept. Together we move forward with one step at a time.

time-to-rise-up

My purpose, passion, and work in the world centers around empowerment, connection to your authentic self and truth, attracting what you want through intention, inspiration, inspired action, and being in flow and alignment with your heart. This whole “resist” movement does not resonate with me. Pushing against what you don’t want is not effective. This brings more of what you don’t want your way. Resisting puts you on the defensive. Push toward, and promote what you want. While I understand the meaning behind the resist movement, it feels counterproductive in an energetic sense.

Instead, be persistent and consistent.

Be proactive in creating the change you seek.

Be an activist for the causes and issues you support and believe in.

Flow towards what’s calling for your attention to heal, transform, and shift.

Show up from a place of love, empowerment, not fear and disempowerment, or fear-based reactions.

Start within to create the outer change in the world you desire.

Seek uplifting, inspiring, and empowering information to help propel you forward.

When you feel enraged, ENGAGE.

When you want to resist, PERSIST.

When you resist, you are fighting against something. Being against it – is pushing against it, and allowing it to continue. Stop fighting against everything. This resistance creates more resistance, more tension, more push back, more fighting, more division, and offers you a defensive position.

Rise up. Stand up. Stand together. Band together in unity for truth, for justice for all. Equal rights for all. For all of humanity.

No walls. No division. Envision the future where you build healing bridges between differences and where your voice is heard. A collective vision to unite for one another, our rights, our bodies, our personal freedom, our environment, and our Earth.

It’s time to revolt for positive change, and desired outcomes. This revolution is long overdue. We are greater than fear-based systems, greed-driven old paradigms that are antiquated and outdated, that do not represent all of humanity, or protect our environment, for the greater good.

No one has power over you, your thoughts, your emotions, or your body unless you give it. No president, leader, or administration is going to “save” anyone or prevent anyone from accessing their truth. You are stronger than allowing anyone, or any one president take your strength, hope, power, and vision away. This, or any other time, is not the time to be a victim, and powerless. This corrupt political joke of a system wants us to be divided in fear. We have the power. You hold the power. We are the present and future. They are the past. Hold this administration, and our representatives accountable. Remember, they work for us. And at the end of the day, you answer to yourself, your family, your values, and your heart.

Yes, I am concerned. Don’t misinterpret my position as being in support of this government, or the proposed policies, or executive orders that discriminate, criminalize, or further oppress. I’m suggesting we approach it differently, and shift to a more positive narrative, of what you would like, instead of this constant negative stream of what you don’t.

Stay present, awake, conscious, educated, and informed.
Build community, volunteer, and help others.
Stop blaming, and take responsibility for your part in creating this.
Move the conversation forward, and vibrationally upward.
Take action.

If you want to march, and make signs, march for the positive, not anti- this or that, or anti-whoever. Use it as a way to create awareness, not divide or fight against.

Create a self-empowerment strategy; one that includes your voice, self-love, and compassion for self and others.

Use your voice to call out the corruption, deception, Fascism, censorship, corporate-owned media manipulation, — regardless of party affiliation because much of what is occurring now did not just begin a week or two ago.

Create an action plan where you are energetically in alignment with who you are, your values, and your heart.

Together let’s be:
Empowered
Strategic
Creative
Energized
Conscious
Awake
Active
Engaged

And approach with love, compassion, truth, and authenticity as if your life depends on it.

Raise the vibration and collective conscious from a heart-driven place, instead of reactionary fear.

Truly hold the vision for well-being, and for justice for all.

It’s JUST US who we can count on, after all.

Together we stand, together we rise.

This is our land,
where we band together,
where we stand together,
in unity, peace, with hands together.
Where we rise together,
thrive together,
to break this illusion,
dissolve fear and delusion,
to steer action and revolution.

The time is now,
for only you will allow,
the vision you hold,
and what you vow.

Drop your fear,
and calm your fright.
Engage your heart,
without the fight.
Bring your light,
with all your might.
Together we rise,
standing bright.

Holding your vision all year long

Let’s welcome 2017 and embrace possibilities! Another milestone, and another year to create long lasting changes, and magical shifts in your life. Dreaming, and attracting what you would like to create into witnessing its evidence when it comes to fruition isn’t just for New Year resolutions.

Envisioning your dreams, focusing on your intentions, and taking inspired action to create a better reality and life, is not just limited to resolutions or “setting your intentions” at the beginning of the year. Progress and momentum happens with all the small steps you take in each moment, becoming aligned with what you desire, and deciding where to focus your attention, intention, and energy. It takes clarity, choice, intention, deliberate focus, attention, and vision — all year long! Holding your vision throughout the little moments that are embedded in each day, the week, month, and year is where the practice begins. Holding your vision, and returning to what you really want wherever you can, offers consistency, creates new neural pathways in your brain, builds positive habits, and sparks momentum.

intentionhabit

Envisioning your ideal life using each moment to bring what you desire. An element, a piece, an aspect of the vision you hold dear to you heart. Create habits by integrating daily, weekly, and monthly rituals, or ceremonies. (Check out my previous post on “Creating a Spiritual Practice” to learn more: https://intentiongroups.com/2016/01/28/creating-a-spiritual-practice-intention-wellness-ritual/

Let’s not forget to add commitment. Decide in this moment, right now, that you will commit to yourself, and your dream fulfillment journey. How will 2017 unfold for you? However you desire. What will you bring to 2017, and allow to magnetize your way?

Contemplating 2017…

What do you desire to attract into your life, shift, improve, change, or release?

What’s calling for you to learn? Resolve? Be fulfilled?

Who would you like to surround yourself with this year? What types of people? What qualities do they hold and express?

What qualities would you enjoy embodying?

What experiences would enrich or improve your life?

What opportunities can you offer yourself that would provide personal growth?

How can you help others this year?

What issues are important for you to advocate for?

Remember that throughout the year, you always have an opportunity to course correct. In each moment, you can pause, stop, and reset, to bring the vision and energy of what you prefer, instead of what is dragging you along, or down. Check in with yourself – your inner self, your heart. Ask in each moment what you need. What does your heart need? Decide on the direction you need to go based on how you feel. As what you desire flows your way, if it is indeed what you intended, and held your vision for, continue in that direction. If not, like any wise ship’s captain, if you’re not headed where you want to go, change course, and correct your navigation. With intentions, your inner navigation provides the best guidance. Focus on building, creating, and improving your new life in this new year; one moment at a time. From one inner nudge to the next.

Reflecting & Propelling Forward

The end of the year, and the end of each month offers an opportunity to go within, reflect, and contemplate your growth. Take inventory of your successes, your progress, and observe where you could have improved. What did you learn about yourself this year? What did you learn from others? About your perceived limits, or where you surpassed your expectations, and doubts? What strengths were illuminated or showcased? What intentions received focus, and how does that relate to what showed up this year? Where can you grow from this new perspective?

yellowstone-national-park-1581879_1280

As you reflect, question, and take inventory of 2016, remember to be gentle with yourself as insights reveal. Remember to also appreciate yourself for everything you have accomplished, from the small and subtle shifts, and gifts, to the brighter, and more grandiose moments of discovery. Use your mistakes, lessons, and where you may feel you fell short, to serve as a catalyst for your personal growth. Use all of this as a continued reminder that it’s ok to be a work in progress as you hone, develop, and refine who you are. Use your past experiences, and current insights to propel your future decisions, choices, and your ever evolving, and unfolding path, and self. Make a commitment to yourself to have compassion for where you are, what you have overcome, and become. Practice self-love. Embody the confidence that you are able to create your visions for your incredible future from each moment starting from right now.

As I reflect on this past year, I am tempted to not give myself credit or acknowledge what I have created, and magnetized. At first, I found myself being hard on myself for not creating more, or completing the projects and books that I had hoped to finish. Focusing on what I have manifested, and being kinder to myself serves me much better! The truth is I am a visionary spirit with an abundance of ideas, and energy, sitting on a palate of possibilities ready to unfurl my creative rockets. Another truth: when I am inspired, and work from this heart-centered place, I am in a much better creative flow zone, and more productive. Moving forward on my path is happening step by step, even if the steps are tiny some days, weeks, and months.

waterfall-984180_1280

I am also working part-time, and manage a family with two children. If I cloned myself 3x, and had a personal assistant, I’m not certain I would have fulfilled my high expectations for this year given how much I want to positively impact, and inspire others!

However, my authentic self recognizes that this past year was productive, and I did create movement, and continued to move forward with building my intention work business, and I am exactly where I need to be – even when I feel frustrated that everything I set out to do is not quite done yet :)! I’m wired to be driven, yet need to also have self-compassion that I am doing my very best, and honor all my efforts.

To highlight a few accomplishments in 2016, I started three new in-person intention groups, wrapped up one group that met for a year, began a second year cycle for another group, and developed a 60 page intention workbook that outlines the first year cycle, and another 40 page workbook for the second year cycle. The groups continue to gain traction, and with connections and referrals, another intention group is forming to begin in January 2017, and a Healer’s Circle is in progress. I also hosted two successful and well attended Healing Arts Networking Events this year. Lastly, I adapted the intention group themes and created a self-study, beginner e-course series, “Awaken & Magnetize Your Intentions” with an option for intention mentorship and coaching that will launch in January 2017.

This past year has enabled me to marinate and brew fresh ideas, collaborate on upcoming projects, and be thoughtful of what offerings would benefit the community I serve the most. Stepping out in a grander way, and stepping more into this intention work and path more fully has magnetized in ways I had not anticipated. Below are just some business projects I am working on. Would love to hear from you if you’re interested in collaborating, or are interested in helping me spread the word!

For those of you who are not familiar with the groups I guide, for the last seven years, I have facilitated several women’s intention groups on a small island in the Pacific Northwest. I’m also offering private coaching both in-person, and remotely. Currently, I lead four active intention groups, with a few “retired” groups.

What’s new & upcoming?

  • An “Awaken & Magnetize Your Intentions” e-course for participants out of the area, or who prefer self-study with support. (The first e-course will include 6 modules based on themes, some audio/video, downloadable worksheets, an option for coaching sessions and other add-on’s, and access to an online community).
  • A new Facebook “Author, Intention Facilitator, and Intention Coach” page dedicated to my business endeavors. Find the link here: https://www.facebook.com/Melissa-Curtin-Author-Intention-Group-Facilitator-Intention-Coach-1745817732372624/
  • Launching soon! A podcast related to intention, transformation, interviews, and more. Ideas welcome on a title!!
  • “Awakening Wisdom” book (Using my “aortic dissection/aneurysm and open-heart emergency” as the foundation for a self-help book on using wake up calls for transformation, growth & opportunity)
  • “Awakening Stories to Uplift, Inspire, and Heal” book (A compilation of those who have also experienced major wake up calls, and how they have used their situation to heal, transform, and grow). Working title.
  • Plans to partner with like-minded personal development & wellness oriented friends to create other classes, workshops, retreats, etc.
  • Private intention coaching sessions
Over the last few years, I’ve had the honor and pleasure to step more into coaching and consulting for artists, healers, small businesses, and writers. It is very important to me for women to not only pursue their dreams, and intentions, but to fulfill them. Living an authentic life, and combining passion with innate skills, and talents can be achieved. (My work is also not limited to just women and intention work).

Expansion and Growth

I’ve been a little quiet on the blog front, so I hope you didn’t miss me too much :). Thank you for being patient. More regular posts to come! Lots of projects marinating, with new endeavors taking root, and moving ahead. When I set my own intentions, one area of focus was to expand my business and offerings. In my next blog post, I will elaborate more on what’s brewing on my end. Stay tuned!

Contemplating my own expansion emerged a new intention theme of Expansion and Growth. This theme was inspired by, and created for the Business Intention and Goals’ Group (BIGG) I facilitate.   imagesExpansion is…opening UP to possibilities. Opening TO possibilities. Possibilities lead to expansion; not just for your business, but for yourself on a personal spiritual development level.

What does expansion mean to you personally? On a business/ career front? Or applied to other areas? Here’s what comes to mind for me. Maybe some will resonate with you.

Opening up to possibilities

Tapping into your full potential

Stepping up/ Stepping out

Spreading wings

Expanding beyond the horse blinders

Surrendering to the unknown, but also to the excitement of what’s to come

More options for what’s possible

Casting a wider net

Reaching more people

Having a greater impact

Serving more

More visibility

Being seen/ heard

Dreams fulfilled

Living without limits

Freedom to explore more of yourself

Part of Merriam-Webster’s dictionary definition of expansion includes: economic expansion, and expansion of the universe.

Dictionary.com’s definition: expansion occurs “usually due to heating” – for our purposes, we could think in terms of “passion” or “fire under our asses” and “what are you cooking up?” or “what are you fired up to do?”

Expansion Synonyms – grow, expand, swell, outgrow, mature, double. From the Latin name that means “spreading out.”

When you think of things that are expansive, what comes to mind? For me, it’s nature; the sky, water, trees, and spaciousness; space (outer space), the horizon, and consciousness.

EXPANSION also means risk; being willing to risk more, being more vulnerable to fully embody who you are, and who you are becoming. Being willing to explore more of you, more skills/talents, and open up to new experiences and opportunities – as you are ready and willing to do so.

When you’re expanding you are…

Stretching beyond where you were before

Out of comfort zone, stretching and expanding your comfort zone

Out of box (self-placed)

Moving through obstacles, blocks, fears, hurdles, limits – beyond what is possible – dreaming in an expansive way.

images-3       images-4

There are lots of catalysts and tools for expansion and growth. Mind Maps are one way of showing potential possibilities. Read my previous blog post on Mind Maps:  https://intentiongroups.com/2015/07/01/mind-mapping-intentions/

When you are in this expansive and growth mindset, share out loud or write down your excitement for the ways in which you desire to expand personally, professionally, and spiritually. Let your imagination and possibilities extend beyond your comfort zone, current reality, and perceived limits. This is a helpful tool to feel energized and embody the feelings you desire to create from bringing in an element of fun, and excitement for what’s to come. Approaching your intentions from an expansion and growth launching zone is empowering and helpful to broaden your perspective.

Exercise #1: Verbally share outloud to yourself, or to a trusted friend/partner, or write down your responses

My business is…

My dreams are expanding in ways I hadn’t imagined…

Growth is apparent by what I am experiencing…I love how…It is remarkable how…

I am attracting perfect clients…

My financial health is flourishing, and increasing…

My intention surrounding this area is growing, and positively expanding in these ways…

Exercise #2: What are a few ways you can expand your business and/or yourself from a personal development or personal improvement, and wellness approach? Where can you step your toe into the greater pond of possibilities? Where can you go deeper, broader, and bigger?

Are you allowing yourself, and your business to expand beyond its current borders? If so, are you experiencing growing pains from stretching yourself? Many of us have “stretch marks” from these growing pains :). Is there an area where you feel timid, uneasy, hesitant, fearful, or stuck? Observe, spend some time working through the belief, or feeling that may be limiting you, and steer through with ease, honesty, and gentleness.

Use where you imagine yourself going as your North Star, your compass, and allow it to navigate and direct your way to expansion that serves you, your purpose and a fulfilling life!images-1

Are your beliefs attracting or repelling your intentions?

Understanding how your belief system influences your reality, and how your beliefs attract or repel your intentions, dreams, and goals, is a powerful step to creating a bee-line path to your desired life. Belief systems help create your reality. Beliefs influence, and code everything you do from your attitude, behavior, choices, and actions. Beliefs are one lens, and one perspective through how you perceive, interpret and live your life.

IMG_0377

How do your beliefs influence your intentions and dreams?

You are a multi-dimensional creature that emanates energy vibrationally through your thoughts, consciousness, energy, and physical body. Your beliefs are part of who you are whether conscious, or subconscious –whether they are known, or live in the sub-terrain of your brain. You have been influenced by your childhood, your career path, experiences, relationships, to religion, and spirituality, your culture, your family life, your pets, the news, your perspective, and beyond. Everything in your own personal experience, and life has had an affect on your perception, and what you choose to believe. All of this shapes who you are, and what you believe to be true in your mind. A belief is a thought, thought over, and over that is believed to be true. Therefore, beliefs are invented. Beliefs could be used as a form of “safety,” and survival instinct for protection. Beliefs are constructed, and can be destructive to your well-being if you are holding on to beliefs that no longer positively serve you.

As you dig deeper under the many layers to your intentions, it’s worthwhile to excavate beneath the surface to the many facets of limiting beliefs, and uncover how these self-imposed limits may affect your launching point for your intentions, dreams, and in your daily life.

images-9    images-4

Use your beliefs as a tool to strengthen your intentions, and attract more of what you want, and less of what you don’t want in your life. It’s important to draw attention to your restrictive beliefs, and perceived blocks, to move through them, and clear the limiting ones. Beliefs permeate through how you parent, how you show up in relationships, how you view and process the world, and much more.

What beliefs do you embody that distract, deter, or detour you away from your intentions? What beliefs do you hold that keep you away from creating choices and situations in your life that could bring you closer to your intentions, dreams and desires?

Beliefs that are false, misleading, and result in incorrect conclusions you draw based on a variety of factors would be defined as limiting beliefs. You believe them to be true based on our experiences. You anticipate a preconceived outcome based on them – therefore limiting an otherwise plentiful possibility palate. Sometimes beliefs feel true whether they are, or aren’t true at all. They may be true for you. They may help explain the world, yourself, and how you interpret your experiences, both positive, neutral, and negative. Having a negative belief system is a common way to keep whatever is not working for you in your vibration, and attract more of it your way. Limiting beliefs can create a self-fulfilling prophecy.

How do we know we still carry a belief system? It’s still in your vibration if you continue to tell the same old, repetitive, and habitual story around it, or you have negative or counterproductive reactions, attitudes, and limiting behaviors based on the belief. Watch conversations with yourself, the “inner critic or mentor,” with others, from others. Observing and listening to others is a way to become hyper aware of beliefs at play, and witness how you resonate with, or deflect the belief. Ditch the beliefs that no longer serve you. Embrace the ones that empower you, and launch you forward! Dream in full color; full spectrum!

The goal here is not to just create awareness, and identify our beliefs, it’s also to examine the beliefs that may have influence over our full potential of our intentions, and dream manifestation. You can “trace” back and “replace” beliefs, and script a fresh narrative, and new story around the limiting belief. We want to clear the way, minimize, and remove any limiting belief clutter or blocks that are in your field. We start out with infinite possibilities, and our beliefs cut into the potential of what is possible by putting unnecessary perceived limits.

images-3      images-15

Be mindful of language like, “How it’s always been…I’ve always been like this…And how your old story, your past, family history, childhood beliefs, cultural standards, and expectations creep in. The “I can’ts and won’ts” and “I’m not good at this or that.” Challenge yourself, and your belief system. Ask, “Is this really true? Is this how I really feel about ____?” Is this an old habitual pattern or story?” If so, where’s the payoff for you? What benefit is it offering you in keeping you stuck, or from change, or from moving forward? Is it positively serving you or not? If not, give it the boot! Practice what I call, “catch and release.” Catch the thought, catch the limiting belief, — don’t hang on to what doesn’t serve you, and release it.

images         imgres-2

When you write intentions, be on the look out for where your mind/belief system is incongruent with your intentions. Is there a mismatch between what you believe and what you desire? What works for magnetizing your intentions is creating a vibrational match between what you believe, and what you desire. By shifting out of your limits, and aligning to your preferred and empowering beliefs, you create a vibrational match between your beliefs and intentions. Catch the limiting belief, shift it, and create a better vibrational match. “Catch and match”

Part of what I do within the group intention work, and with my transformational coaching is focus on the conscious belief areas first, and teach others how to catch themselves when their limiting belief system pokes through. Creating awareness of the belief systems, and learning how to work with them, leverage them, and harness them is a powerful step to create healing, long-lasting shifts, and movement from binding beliefs into expansion and possibility. For deeper “belief” clearing work, exploring the undercurrent, the subconscious beliefs, and values we adopted offer more clarity, insight and depth. One modality this depth can be achieved through is Theta Healing.

There are oodles of tools available to help clear, diminish and transform limiting beliefs. The list of tools below are helpful to begin belief clearing work. Transform limits, and clear the path to possibilities!

Mind Mapping Intentions

Are you a list maker, doodler, visionary, and dreamer? Do you love brainstorming, creating relationships between ideas, and expressing creativity? Mind Mapping is a fun and engaging tool that fits well with intention work and envisioning possibilities.

e9e2f4f0fa91172423b5638d36555feemindmap

Mind Maps are a creative activity where you can heart- and brainstorm your ideas, and bridge both the left and right brain hemispheres. The mindmapping process allows for fresh ideas, insight, and intuition to guide you as you fill in your Mind Map. Mind Maps are a visual representation of your ideas presented in a non-linear, free thinking and free flowing, yet logical, and organized format.

Mind Maps are similar to organizational flow charts with roots in business and project planning. They are often integrated in business and educational applications for brainstorming, problem solving, and expanding upon ideas. Mind Maps are also beneficial for generating ideas, note-taking, studying, organizing, classifying and sequencing info, interpreting dreams, planning writing projects, visualizing, memorizing, and making decisions. Mind Maps can be applied in unlimited and boundless ways across numerous industries, careers, and fields.

Business Dictionary defines Mind Maps as a: “Graphical technique for visualizing connections between several ideas or pieces of information. Each idea or fact is written down and then linked by lines or curves to its major or minor (or following or previous) idea or fact, thus creating a web of relationships. Mind Maps were developed by the UK research Tony Buzan in his 1972 book, “Use Your Head”…Like other mapping techniques its purpose is to focus attention, and to capture and frame knowledge to facilitate sharing of ideas and concepts.”

http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/mind-mapping.html

Wikipedia’s definition describes Mind Maps this way: ”A Mind Map is a diagram used to visually organize information. A mind map is often created around a single concept, drawn as an image in the center of a blank landscape page, to which associated representations of ideas such as images, words and parts of words are added. Major ideas are connected directly to the central concept, and other ideas branch out from those.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind_map

Connecting Mind Maps to Intentions:

For intentions, Mind Maps can:

  • Help you clarify intentions
  • Heart/brainstorm ideas
  • Explore possible paths and new directions
  • Reveal inspired action steps
  • Be a catalyst for change
  • Discover your passion, interests and what excites you
  • Uncover blocks and resistance
  • Highlight feelings, perceptions and energy
  • Help to identify and solve problems, and uncover issues
  • Provide an opportunity to course correct or ask for help and support
  • Inform choices, help make decisions, and more.

Mind Mapping Intentions…

imagestreemind-map-template

Begin with an intention, central idea, theme, topic, your core values, or any area or issue of focus in the center of the page. As ideas, and subtopics emerge, add branches to connect your ideas and subtopics with lines, words, inspirations, short phrases, pictures, and symbols. Dress your Mind Map up with color, designs, and personalize with your own style. Allow your ideas to flow. Let go and enjoy the process!

Using Mind Maps for an intention exploration tool may illuminate the next inspired action step to take, or which direction to follow. Your completed Mind Map also serves as a potential outline or guide for following through on tasks, defining goals, and creating lists.

Would love to hear how Mind Mapping assists your intention process, inspires change and opens up the possibilities. For more in depth information on Mind Maps, I recommend Buzan’s book, “The Ultimate Mind Map Book.”

It’s all about perspective!

boat

“Perspective” was an illuminating theme created for the intention groups as another way to explore an expanded version of how we perceive our current situations, and where we consciously place our focus. As a filmmaker, writer, researcher, and former video editor, what I choose to focus on affects everything from concept through the final outcome or product. Applying this lens to intention work, there is a relationship between intentions, perspective and outcomes. Navigating “perspective” offers a unique angle, focal point and another layer to examining your intentions and provides a new way to “see” them, your self and your process.

Here are some questions to consider:

What do you perceive as truth, reality or illusion based on who you are? What about in your daily life? What perceptions do you have around your intentions? What are some factors that influence your perspective? What shapes your perspective?

There are a variety of influences including, yet not constrained by our past experiences, others’ opinions, our perceived limits, our current story, and more. You can create your own list based on your life experiences. Below is a framework (pun intended) to apply perspective to intentions.

The lens we look through as individuals/ viewers and how we receive/distort what we “see”: PERSONAL FILTER

The angle/ perspective we choose to see: CHOICE to include/exclude

What we choose to focus on (inner or external landscape): FOCUS of what’s in our frame or shot

Based on our physical position, health (vision/wellness), situation and circumstances, level of awareness, consciousness, what’s known & what’s uncertain: Current level of AWARENESS

Our actual intent, intention, goal, vision and dream: INTENTION

All affect our literal perspective and imagined, perceived perspective/reality. All code our “story,” our unique process, the “illusion”, our truths, beliefs, perceived limits, perception or expectation of outcome. In the intention groups, there was a lively discussion about how our perspective and perceptions influence our intentional process.

Here are a handful of images I collected from a longer slideshow I created which further illustrates “perspective.” The main idea was to show there are an abundance of ways, angles, shots, viewpoints, focal and magnification points – whether near sighted or far sighted, close up, wide angled or narrow focus, micro or macro lens or with an extra pulled out view, and everything infinitely in between and beyond.

What perspectacles are you wearing today? How does that shape what you desire, what you see, and how well you are keeping possibilities open to what you want, or the potential outcomes? How does how you perceive your intentions and life in general, possibly limit or constrict available options? What do you showcase or illuminate around your life and intentions based on your current perspective?

The Art of Setting Intentions All Year Round

images-2The New Year is commonly the time of year where many resolve themselves to goals, making changes, and raising the bar of happiness and fulfillment in their lives. Starting fresh at the New Year to mark a launching point for desires, dreams and wishes is traditional. The auspicious year often begins with the commitment to improve, and successfully shift and change the areas of life most needing attention.

For some, sticking to resolutions and goals works beautifully and effortlessly. The benefits of willpower and ambitious efforts result in success and achievement. And for others, once they drift from their desired goals and signs of quasi-commitment surface, often the level of interest to change and improve, fades and dissolves.  Loving yourself regardless whether you obtain the goal, adhere to your resolution or manifest your intention is an important factor to successful outcomes.

One of the reasons the intention circles I facilitate meet all year round is to keep the momentum of success continual, and level of commitment to one’s self and intentions energizing and alive. Any time of year, season, month or day is a welcomed opportunity to decide what needs improving in one’s life. Through this process of determining and asking for what you want with regularity, you honor yourself. You honor the deepest part of yourself that is yearning for transformation and change. Honoring yourself by focusing on your intentions is a form of self love.

My most treasured intentions are the ones that I create and nurture all year round. When giving your intentions consistent attention, they become a direct reflection of what it is you most dream of magnetizing in your life. There is an art to keeping your intentions, wishes, desires and dreams alive throughout the year. Like any art form, practice is key. Keeping your intentions top of consciousness, in view or easily accessible helps maintain your focus. When your intentions become integrated into your everyday existence, the intentions become more multi-dimensional. Associating feelings, texture and positive sensations with your intentions also aid in enhancing their energetic field of potentiality.

There are several intentions tools, techniques and ideas available to help you master the art of intention setting all year round. Your first step is recognizing and gaining clarity of what you would like to create in your life. From there, any moment in every day has immense potential for cultivating the inspiration to set your intentions whether it’s the New Year or not.

Here’s to fulfilled intentions and realized dreams every day!

Intentions vs. Goals

Within and across the intention groups, and working with intentions, we recognize how intentions are not necessarily the same as goals. Both approaches to achieving what you desire are helpful throughout the intention or goal setting process. There are compelling similarities, and differences that offer perspective on which direction is more fitting for your situation, type of change or accomplishment, purpose, and desired outcome.

What do intentions and goals have in common?

They both:

  • Arise from the desire to shift, change or improve an aspect of your life.
  • Are a reflection of a person’s morals, values, passions, and personal attributes.
  • Are driven by purpose, motivation, and energy.
  • Typically utilize visualization, list making, strategies, and more as methods to envision what one desires.
  • Support and inspiration from spirit, spiritual, or religious affiliations or connections, may be apart of the process, but that is not required.
  • An outcome or desired effect exist for both an intention and a goal.
  • The goal or intention setter is committed, and focuses on success, achievement, and resolution.

How do intentions and goals differ?

  • Goals have deadlines.
  • Goals are used to measure progress toward achievements and specific results.
  • Goals have definitive steps you can follow to achieve your specific goal.
  • The goal steps are re-producible, logical, and uniform. Checking items off a “things to do” list is common for obtaining goals.
  • Goals originate from asking how, when and where questions.
  • Intentions include steps that are often revealed as the intention unfolds, and as it comes into materialization and manifestation.
  • Intention incorporates trusting in the “process.”
  • The intention process encourages being detached to specific pre-planned steps to achieve the outcome.
  • Intentions come to fruition organically, and there is less focus on how it will evolve.
  • Intentions are derived from the deeper why you desire what you do.
