Expansion and Growth

I’ve been a little quiet on the blog front, so I hope you didn’t miss me too much :). Thank you for being patient. More regular posts to come! Lots of projects marinating, with new endeavors taking root, and moving ahead. When I set my own intentions, one area of focus was to expand my business and offerings. In my next blog post, I will elaborate more on what’s brewing on my end. Stay tuned!

Contemplating my own expansion emerged a new intention theme of Expansion and Growth. This theme was inspired by, and created for the Business Intention and Goals’ Group (BIGG) I facilitate.   imagesExpansion is…opening UP to possibilities. Opening TO possibilities. Possibilities lead to expansion; not just for your business, but for yourself on a personal spiritual development level.

What does expansion mean to you personally? On a business/ career front? Or applied to other areas? Here’s what comes to mind for me. Maybe some will resonate with you.

Stepping up/ Stepping out

Spreading wings

Expanding beyond the horse blinders

Part of Merriam-Webster’s dictionary definition of expansion includes: economic expansion, and expansion of the universe.

Dictionary.com’s definition: expansion occurs “usually due to heating” – for our purposes, we could think in terms of “passion” or “fire under our asses” and “what are you cooking up?” or “what are you fired up to do?”

Expansion Synonyms – grow, expand, swell, outgrow, mature, double. From the Latin name that means “spreading out.”

When you think of things that are expansive, what comes to mind? For me, it’s nature; the sky, water, trees, and spaciousness; space (outer space), the horizon, and consciousness.

EXPANSION also means risk; being willing to risk more, being more vulnerable to fully embody who you are, and who you are becoming. Being willing to explore more of you, more skills/talents, and open up to new experiences and opportunities – as you are ready and willing to do so.

When you’re expanding you are…

Stretching beyond where you were before

Out of comfort zone, stretching and expanding your comfort zone

Out of box (self-placed)

Moving through obstacles, blocks, fears, hurdles, limits – beyond what is possible – dreaming in an expansive way.

When you are in this expansive and growth mindset, share out loud or write down your excitement for the ways in which you desire to expand personally, professionally, and spiritually. Let your imagination and possibilities extend beyond your comfort zone, current reality, and perceived limits. This is a helpful tool to feel energized and embody the feelings you desire to create from bringing in an element of fun, and excitement for what’s to come. Approaching your intentions from an expansion and growth launching zone is empowering and helpful to broaden your perspective.

Exercise #1: Verbally share outloud to yourself, or to a trusted friend/partner, or write down your responses

My business is…

My dreams are expanding in ways I hadn’t imagined…

Growth is apparent by what I am experiencing…I love how…It is remarkable how…

I am attracting perfect clients…

My financial health is flourishing, and increasing…

My intention surrounding this area is growing, and positively expanding in these ways…

Exercise #2: What are a few ways you can expand your business and/or yourself from a personal development or personal improvement, and wellness approach? Where can you step your toe into the greater pond of possibilities? Where can you go deeper, broader, and bigger?

Are you allowing yourself, and your business to expand beyond its current borders? If so, are you experiencing growing pains from stretching yourself? Many of us have “stretch marks” from these growing pains :). Is there an area where you feel timid, uneasy, hesitant, fearful, or stuck? Observe, spend some time working through the belief, or feeling that may be limiting you, and steer through with ease, honesty, and gentleness.

Use where you imagine yourself going as your North Star, your compass, and allow it to navigate and direct your way to expansion that serves you, your purpose and a fulfilling life!images-1

Are your beliefs attracting or repelling your intentions?

Understanding how your belief system influences your reality, and how your beliefs attract or repel your intentions, dreams, and goals, is a powerful step to creating a bee-line path to your desired life. Belief systems help create your reality. Beliefs influence, and code everything you do from your attitude, behavior, choices, and actions. Beliefs are one lens, and one perspective through how you perceive, interpret and live your life.

How do your beliefs influence your intentions and dreams?

You are a multi-dimensional creature that emanates energy vibrationally through your thoughts, consciousness, energy, and physical body. Your beliefs are part of who you are whether conscious, or subconscious –whether they are known, or live in the sub-terrain of your brain. You have been influenced by your childhood, your career path, experiences, relationships, to religion, and spirituality, your culture, your family life, your pets, the news, your perspective, and beyond. Everything in your own personal experience, and life has had an affect on your perception, and what you choose to believe. All of this shapes who you are, and what you believe to be true in your mind. A belief is a thought, thought over, and over that is believed to be true. Therefore, beliefs are invented. Beliefs could be used as a form of “safety,” and survival instinct for protection. Beliefs are constructed, and can be destructive to your well-being if you are holding on to beliefs that no longer positively serve you.

As you dig deeper under the many layers to your intentions, it’s worthwhile to excavate beneath the surface to the many facets of limiting beliefs, and uncover how these self-imposed limits may affect your launching point for your intentions, dreams, and in your daily life.

Use your beliefs as a tool to strengthen your intentions, and attract more of what you want, and less of what you don’t want in your life. It’s important to draw attention to your restrictive beliefs, and perceived blocks, to move through them, and clear the limiting ones. Beliefs permeate through how you parent, how you show up in relationships, how you view and process the world, and much more.

What beliefs do you embody that distract, deter, or detour you away from your intentions? What beliefs do you hold that keep you away from creating choices and situations in your life that could bring you closer to your intentions, dreams and desires?

Beliefs that are false, misleading, and result in incorrect conclusions you draw based on a variety of factors would be defined as limiting beliefs. You believe them to be true based on our experiences. You anticipate a preconceived outcome based on them – therefore limiting an otherwise plentiful possibility palate. Sometimes beliefs feel true whether they are, or aren’t true at all. They may be true for you. They may help explain the world, yourself, and how you interpret your experiences, both positive, neutral, and negative. Having a negative belief system is a common way to keep whatever is not working for you in your vibration, and attract more of it your way. Limiting beliefs can create a self-fulfilling prophecy.

How do we know we still carry a belief system? It’s still in your vibration if you continue to tell the same old, repetitive, and habitual story around it, or you have negative or counterproductive reactions, attitudes, and limiting behaviors based on the belief. Watch conversations with yourself, the “inner critic or mentor,” with others, from others. Observing and listening to others is a way to become hyper aware of beliefs at play, and witness how you resonate with, or deflect the belief. Ditch the beliefs that no longer serve you. Embrace the ones that empower you, and launch you forward! Dream in full color; full spectrum!

The goal here is not to just create awareness, and identify our beliefs, it’s also to examine the beliefs that may have influence over our full potential of our intentions, and dream manifestation. You can “trace” back and “replace” beliefs, and script a fresh narrative, and new story around the limiting belief. We want to clear the way, minimize, and remove any limiting belief clutter or blocks that are in your field. We start out with infinite possibilities, and our beliefs cut into the potential of what is possible by putting unnecessary perceived limits.

Be mindful of language like, “How it’s always been…I’ve always been like this…And how your old story, your past, family history, childhood beliefs, cultural standards, and expectations creep in. The “I can’ts and won’ts” and “I’m not good at this or that.” Challenge yourself, and your belief system. Ask, “Is this really true? Is this how I really feel about ____?” Is this an old habitual pattern or story?” If so, where’s the payoff for you? What benefit is it offering you in keeping you stuck, or from change, or from moving forward? Is it positively serving you or not? If not, give it the boot! Practice what I call, “catch and release.” Catch the thought, catch the limiting belief, — don’t hang on to what doesn’t serve you, and release it.

When you write intentions, be on the look out for where your mind/belief system is incongruent with your intentions. Is there a mismatch between what you believe and what you desire? What works for magnetizing your intentions is creating a vibrational match between what you believe, and what you desire. By shifting out of your limits, and aligning to your preferred and empowering beliefs, you create a vibrational match between your beliefs and intentions. Catch the limiting belief, shift it, and create a better vibrational match. “Catch and match”

Part of what I do within the group intention work, and with my transformational coaching is focus on the conscious belief areas first, and teach others how to catch themselves when their limiting belief system pokes through. Creating awareness of the belief systems, and learning how to work with them, leverage them, and harness them is a powerful step to create healing, long-lasting shifts, and movement from binding beliefs into expansion and possibility. For deeper “belief” clearing work, exploring the undercurrent, the subconscious beliefs, and values we adopted offer more clarity, insight and depth.   • Creating awareness of belief systems – identifying, bringing to forefront
  • Replacing negative beliefs and old stories with alternative narratives – re-programming to a more positive belief. “Trace and replace”
  • Observing conversations with others, self-talk – mindful of limiting beliefs, language, patterns, behaviors, actions or lack of action caused by beliefs
  • Acknowledging beliefs, and releasing what no longer serves you through ritual (writing, burning limiting beliefs in fire, ceremony). “Catch and release”
  • Using intention work to shift your limiting beliefs, raise consciousness, awareness and a vibrational match to your dreams. “Catch and match”
